With the help of the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation, we’re developing the eCitizens government document alerting service.
Soon, citizens will have the opportunity to subscribe and receive email alerts when keywords they specify are used in typical municipal government documents.
We’ll index local government, committee, department, commission and school boards agendas, minutes, budgets and myriad other documents municipalities must publish by law as well as those they may be posting voluntarily.
We are developing this tool in an open-source environment – effectively allowing any developer to adopt this service for local implementation.
If you are interested in staying in touch with us through our infrequent newsletters please subscribe. We are interested in learning more about your needs for local government documents and records. Please contact us and tell us how we can be of better service to you!
Our solution triggers a paradigm shift by enabling municipalities to become ‘proactive open-governments’ by equipping their citizens with a simple real-time alerting tool notifying them by email of agendas, minutes and support documents relating to subjects the citizen cares most about. We anticipate intra-government uses will also be significant, effectively becoming a unbiased communication vehicle for municipality executive, legislative and support staff.
